In Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, large numbers of mosquitoes appear even during the winter season. They say this is due to the high water temperature of the hot spring area, which creates an environment conducive to the breeding of mosquito larvae. The locals do not like the large number of mosquitoes. They also spray chemicals twice a year to get rid of mosquitoes. However, when they talk about mosquitoes, they show their displeasure at the large numbers and are at the same time slightly proud. I asked them, "Why do you kill mosquitoes?". Then I removed the word "mosquito" from their answers. I filmed them and painted them on a mosquito net. I painted them by entering the inside of the mosquito net (=space without mosquitoes) and spraying paint toward the outside of the mosquito net (=space where mosquitoes exist). Violence against mosquitoes is exposed.
